Inova Fact Sheet
Inova Health System is a not-for-profit health care organization that provides a comprehensive network of hospitals, health care facilities and services throughout Northern Virginia. It is one of the largest private health care delivery systems in Virginia and the Washington, DC metro region.
The Inova system includes hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living communities, emergency and urgent care centers, a home health agency, an outpatient surgical/24 hour emergency care facility, and a variety of health and wellness classes for the community.
Inova Fairfax Hospital, its flagship facility, is an award-winning hospital recognized most often for its outstanding cardiac care. U.S. News & World Report has named the hospital one of “America’s Best Hospitals” for several years running. In 2006, Inova Fairfax Hospital was recognized by the magazine for five subspecialties (cancer, cardiology, endocrinology, digestive disorders, and gynecology), more than any other hospital in the Washington region. Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children has been recognized as one of the top 25 children’s hospitals in the country by Child Magazine. Also in 2006, Inova Health System provided $88 million in charity care.
In addition, Inova’s quality tradition extends to our 15,600 valued employees as evidenced by three prestigious awards recognizing workplace excellence. Inova Health System has been named one of the country’s Top 100 Companies for Working Mothers by Working Mother magazine. The award honors organizations that recognize the value and needs of working families, with Inova cited for its benefits, flexible scheduling and child care options.
Inova Health System was among the nation's select few Best Employers for
Workers Over
50 according to AARP. The AARP praised Inova’s flexible scheduling and tuition
assistance program. Inova also received a Torchbearer Citation from Northern
Virginia Family Service (NVFS) for continued dedication
to maintaining, improving and enhancing workplace policies and procedures.
The Torchbearer Citation is a follow-up to Inova’s 2002 CARE Award (Companies
As Responsive Employers) from NVFS for demonstrated leadership in creating
a family-friendly environment for employees.
Inova Health System was also named one of the country’s 100 Most Integrated Healthcare Networks. The recognition comes from Verispan, the nation’s top ratings organization for quality in integrated health care networks. Integrated health systems provide a continuum of care that is accessible to the community, eliminating inefficiencies and redundancies to achieve quality care at the lowest possible cost.
Inova is actively involved in the community and has been recognized for
a number of local partnerships in which it helps provide health care to those
less fortunate. Inova's Partnership for Healthier Kids, for example,
