ABOUT PRINCE WILLIAM HOSPITAL
Prince William Hospital is committed to improving the quality and convenience
of healthcare in Prince William County and the surrounding areas. Prince
William Hospital opened in 1964 to serve the greater Manassas, Va. area.
Today, the region is rapidly growing and changing at an unprecedented rate.
To meet the demands of the diverse people the hospital services, Prince William
Hospital is actively expanding services to keep pace with advances in technology
as well as recruiting highly qualified physicians to join the medical staff.
Located in the heart of Manassas, its 170-bed, hospital serves the health care needs of the community. In keeping with its mission to provide exceptional, quality healthcare for those it serve, Prince William Hospital strives to provide a full range of services and to be a resource for improving public health.
The following are just a few examples of the ways Prince William Hospital is delivering exceptional healthcare:- Prince William Hospital has invested more than $100 million to build and expand its quality of services to meet the health needs of the region, including:
- A new emergency department
- A new birthing center
- New and expanded operating and special procedure rooms
- Outpatient surgery center (in partnership with physicians)
- Cancer center (in partnership with Fauquier Hospital).
- Newly renovated behavioral medicine department
- The hospital plans to open a major outpatient healthcare center in Haymarket in the summer of 2008.
- Prince William Hospital is investing in the latest medical technology, including a new 64-slice CT scanner, which brings unprecedented speed and quality in the diagnosis and treatment plan of cardiac disease to the community.
- Prince William Hospital actively recruits board-certified physicians from top medical schools such as Yale and Johns Hopkins.
- The hospital has established affiliations with 400 physicians in 41 specialties, giving the region access to top quality physicians.
- In 2005, almost one-fourth of the hospital's medical staff was rated by colleagues in Washingtonian magazine as the area's top physicians.
- Prince William Hospital is only 1 of 2 Virginia hospitals to receive the prestigious United States Senate Productivity Award for organizational quality two years in a row.
- In 2005, Prince William Hospital's Cancer Program received a three-year accreditation by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer. Along with the accreditation, which recognizes the program as a Community Hospital Cancer Program, the Cancer Program was also awarded eight commendations.
