Merger Benefits

The merger between Prince William and Inova Health Systems will enhance and expand medical services in our growing community. The need for the merger to be completed is as great, if not greater, then when first announced. Consider that since Spring 2006, the community has continued to grow while the healthcare needs of the area have continued to exceed PWHS’s ability of addressing them as a stand-alone entity.

Inova has pledged more than $200 million to meet healthcare needs in Prince William County. Following the merger, PWHS will have the necessary resources to build a patient bed tower with private rooms, replace medical-surgical capacity and redevelop other patient care support areas. PWHS will also enhance cardiology services by adding a cardiac catheterization lab, expanding its critical care unit, improving infrastructure, enhancing the western campus in Haymarket, and repairing and improving the Caton Merchant House.

By implementing this partnership, PWHS will honor the intent and vision of its founders while meeting the current and future needs of our rapidly-changing community.
